Jazz Jam Session in Wells, Somerset - Monday 21st December

the next Wells Jazz Collective jam session is on Monday December 21st at The Venue

42 South Street, Wells BA5 1SL (Tel. 01749 674913) from 8 pm. 

Performers: please bring charts for the house band for the numbers you would like to do

The Wells jam session is an excellent place to play with and meet other jazz musicians in an informal setting. The bar is great and they even serve fish and chips if you are hungry. 

We welcome beginners and also attract some really great players from across Somerset.

We have an experienced rhythm section and supply drum kit, bass amp, piano and small PA.

NEW - Monthly Jazz Sessions at Bocabar, Glastonbury

The new and regular monthly jazz sessions at the Bocabar in Glastonbury will feature some of the best jazz musicians in the South West. WJC regulars Adrian Smith, Hywel Davies and Terry McAvoy are set to support the main band some months.

Please come along and support these events.

Jazz Workshop at Strode College - Wed 15th July

Jazz Workshop @ Strode College

Wednesday 15th July /  9am-4.30pm

Come and spend a day playing jazz, meeting other musicians and having fun in our purpose built music rooms. This workshop will be great for anyone with an interest in playing jazz music from absolute beginners to musicians who already have some experience. We will be playing a range of jazz music and looking at topics including how and what to practice, scale choices, improvisation, chord charts and jazz resources such as books, YouTube and the iRealbook app on iPhone and iPad.

The Wells Jazz Collective (WJC) Jam Session has a new home

We are trying out this new venue (called The Venue!) so please let us know what you think as this may very well become the regular place for the monthly jam sessions.

All welcome, please bring charts where needed. Spread the word 

- The recent trio gig at the Venue was a great success. We had a good crowd and a great atmosphere. Add to that sofas, a pool table, a bar and a 'fish and chip' shop all under one roof. It was a very enjoyable evening. -

2014 was a great year with busy jam sessions and a number of well attended events including the Wookey Hole Music Festival, The Bishop's Barn Wells, Wookey Hole Club and The Little Theatre

The next WJC Jam Session has been booked for Monday the 26th of January 
Wookey Hole Club - Wookey (nr Wells) - Somerset
8pm start - PA and back line provided (although guitarists may wish to bring an amp)

NOT THE 3rd MONDAY
This is a change from the usual 3rd Monday due to a clash with bookings.

All are welcome to come along to play, sing or listen.

Please remember though

This is a Jazz Jam Session not an 'Open Mic Session' 

There are plenty of 'Open Mic' sessions around the area for those who want to try out their own songs or play/sing pop or blues music.

We play charts from the various 'Real' and 'Fake' jazz books. If you want to play something that is not in these books then please bring along charts for the piano and bass player.
